“La Boîte à disques”, box of records !

The aim of this blog: to shed light on the life of record shops from the 1960s to the end of the 1980s.

The concept: a series of interviews with record shops that not only lived the golden age of music, but also experienced the peak of vinyl sales:

– How were records sold back then?

– How much did an album cost?

– What was the emotional bond with the customers?

Still on this blog, mood posts around vinyls or reviews of records from that era.

Written in French, because that is my mother tongue, but translated into English. Because even when words flow out of French, sounds that make you dream or sing often spring from English.

And also translated into Dutch.

Eventually, as a tribute to these record shops, a book will be published, like the shop of Marie Van Brabant, my mother. At the time, from 1963 to 1987, she ran the record shop La Boite à disques in Sint-Gillis/Brussels.
